Pediatric surgery

Pediatric surgery is specialized for the treatment of acquired and developmental disorders in childhood. As a pediatric surgeon I am also working in several fields such us: general pediatric surgery, neonatal surgery, reconstruction of lip and palate clefts, pediatric urology.

General pediatric surgery: The most common general pediatric surgical interventions in children are inguinal hernia in children or infants, umbilical hernia, hydrocele, thyreoglossal cyst, protruding or lop ears, pylorus stenosis, appendicitis, intussusception, Hirschsprung disease.

Neonatal surgery: The most commonly performed neonatal surgical interventions are duodenal atresia or other congenital bowel obstruction, diaphragmatic hernia, meconium ileus, omphalocele, gastroschisis, oesophageal atresia, tracheo oesophageal fistula.

Cleft lip and palate: Reconstruction of cleft lip and palate is in the hands of pediatric surgeons in Hungary. Cleft lip is usually reconstructed at 3 months of age. We perform cleft palate reconstruction from 9 months, reconstruction of nasal deformities, bone grafting and pharyngoplasty later.

Pediatric urology: The most common operations are circumcision and phimoplasty (an alternative of circumcision, foreskin is not removed) in phimosis, laparoscopic or open orchidopexy for undescended testicle, laparoscopic or open varicocele repair, hydrocele or ligation of patent processus vaginalis peritonei, hypospadiasis, endoscopic treatment of vesico ureteralis reflux (Deflux), obstruction of pyelo-ureteral junction, obstruction of uretero-vesical junction.

Minimal invasive pediatric surgery: We are routinely performing laparoscopic intervention for appendicitis, undescended testicles, varicocele, cholelithiasis, splenic cysts, fundoplication, ovarian torsion or cysts, correcting vesico ureteral reflux with endoscopic injection of Deflux.
